Submission Guidelines
Generative Minds: The Journal of Artificial Intelligence in Education
Generative Minds invites educators, researchers, and practitioners to submit original work for publication. This interdisciplinary journal highlights the transformative role of artificial intelligence (AI) in education, with a focus on ethical integration, classroom innovation, and inclusive practice.
We welcome submissions in three distinct categories:
Research Articles, Features, and Bytes
1. Research Articles (Double-Anonymized Peer Review)
Research Articles are scholarly contributions that explore theoretical, empirical, or methodological issues related to the integration of artificial intelligence in education. Submissions should aim to advance understanding of AI’s educational potential, challenges, and ethical implications.
Topics may include, but are not limited to:
-AI-powered pedagogy and adaptive learning
-Equity and access in AI-enhanced education
-Generative AI and assessment practices
-Ethics of AI in classrooms
-Faculty and educator professional development in AI
-AI literacy and curriculum development
-Data governance, policy, and student privacy
Submission Expectations:
- Scope: Articles should present original research with a clear rationale, detailed methodology, analysis, and discussion of implications for educational theory and practice.
- Structure: Submissions should include an abstract, keywords, introduction, literature review, conclusion, references. (Optional others: methods, results/findings, discussion, etc.). Sections/headings are recommended but not required.
- Format: Adherence to current APA style is required.
- Word Count: Between 4,000 and 6,000 words, including references.
- Abstract: 200–350 words outlining the study’s aims, methods, and key findings.
- Keywords: 3–6 relevant terms to facilitate indexing and discoverability.
Review Process:
All manuscripts in this category undergo double-anonymized peer review. The identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed throughout the process to ensure impartial evaluation. Submissions are assessed on rigor, originality, clarity, and relevance to the field of AI in education.
Publication:
Accepted manuscripts will be featured in the journal’s “Research” section following editorial and peer review revisions.
We will have a decision as expeditiously as possible following review.
2. Features
Features are practice-oriented contributions that bridge theory and classroom or institutional practice. They are typically written in a more accessible style and may address instructional, organizational, or policy-based perspectives.
Example Features: Interviews / Lesson plans / Pedagogy guides / Professional Development / Workshop / Policy materials (Attachments encouraged) / Practitioner features / Lesson Plans / Thought pieces / Reflections
Submission Expectations:
- Scope: Contributions should focus on practical applications, instructional strategies, professional learning, or reflections on experiences with AI in educational settings.
- Format: Submissions may use a range of written forms (e.g., narrative, instructional outline, report), provided they communicate clearly and coherently to an educational audience.
- Word Count: Between 800 – 2,000 words.
- Summary: An up to 100-word abstract should accompany the submission, highlighting its purpose and main contribution.
Review Process:
Features are reviewed by the editorial team. Evaluation focuses on clarity, originality, relevance, and potential usefulness to practitioners and stakeholders.
Publication:
Features will be published in sections such as “In Practice” or similar, at the discretion of the editorial team.
3. Bytes
Bytes are concise, focused pieces designed to communicate specific insights, reflections, or commentary on timely issues in AI and education. They are intended to spark dialogue or draw attention to emerging considerations.
Submission Expectations:
- Scope: These short contributions should present a clear viewpoint, argument, or reflection on a tightly scoped topic relevant to AI in education.
- Format: Flexible format; content should be succinct, well-structured, and purpose-driven.
- Word Count: Up to 800 words.
- Summary: A 50-word summary should briefly explain the topic or viewpoint presented.
Review Process:
Reviewed by the editorial team on a rolling basis. Submissions are assessed for relevance, clarity, and contribution to current discourse.
Publication:
Accepted Bytes may appear in sections such as “Commentary” or be included in thematic roundups or journal updates.
